St Austell Transport Interchange

As part of plans to regenerate St Austell town a scheme was developed to provide a full redevelopment of the Public Transport Interchange.

The improvements to the Public Transport Interchange delivered:-

• A brand new accessible bridge with lifts to link platforms and station facilities for all
• A completely revised bus station on the southern side with a new canopy, seating and paving
• A reconfigured north car park including surface improvements, lighting and signage
• Improve disability accessibility
• Improved pedestrian areas with lighting, signage and seating
• Conversion and repairs to existing listed buildings
• CCTV
• Bicycle Lockers
• Disabled parking
• New rail timetable and information screens

The project costed a total of £2.4m with funding coming from Objective One, South West RDA, Railway Heritage Trust and Department for Transports "Access for All" fund - the lead partner in the project being Cornwall County Council with other partners including First Great Western, First Devon and Cornwall, Restormel Borough Council and Network Rail.

Project design and development was managed by the Stride Treglown group and its partner organisations.  Experience rail and construction contractors, Messrs Dyer and Butler undertook the works.

The scheme was finished in 2008.
